Cleaning the house – it’s on no one’s list of favourite things to do but it’s something that has to be done week in and week out. Make the process of house cleaning your home a little less painful by using some of our house cleaning tips!
Got a gummy residue that you just can’t get off? Rub the residue with a little bit of eucalyptus oil and it’ll come straight off.
A natural way to leave a room smelling great after you have vacuumed is to place a little dab of essential oil (such as lavender) near the exhaust vent of the vacuum cleaner or in the vacuum cleaner bag. The exhaust air will warm the oil and the smell will go through the room.
Find cleaning the microwave a tedious task? Combine four tablespoons of lemon juice to a cup of water in a microwave safe container. Microwave it for five minutes, and then wipe down the inside of the microwave with a clean, soft cloth.
Sick of fingerprints on your stainless steel surfaces? Use a little bit of baby oil on a paper towel and gently rub the affected areas. The fingerprints will disappear straight away.
Pets are great companions but their fur can drive you wild. Remove fur from your clothes and furniture by rubbing them with damp rubber gloves.
Use clove oil in order to kill any mould that you have growing. Clean the mould from the surface first and then wipe a diluted mix of clove oil and water over the area.
Clean mirrors and glass surfaces with some white vinegar and paper towels. The surface will be sparkling clean and free of streaks.
Clean the fridge with a mixture of baking soda and water – it cleans, removes odours and won’t leave your fridge smelling like chemicals.
If your sink is a little smelly, pour down some vinegar and then add some bi carb soda. Leave for fifteen minutes and then pour a jug of boiling water down the sink.
To make any room smell fresh and clean, use a little bit of fabric softener mixed with water in a spray bottle. Spray on curtains and soft furnishings and your room will smell amazing.
Schedule your house cleaning according to zones. Do one zone each day and the task of house cleaning your home will seem much more manageable.
Keep your house cleaning products handy, even if that means having multiples of each item. Having your cleaning products close by will be an extra motivator!
